What is a Trademark? A trademark is a word, group of words, phrase, symbol, design, or logo that identifies the source of goods or services. It distinguishes companies from each other.
A service mark is the same as a trademark, except it identifies the source of a service rather than a product.
Normally, a trademark for goods appears on the product or packaging. A service mark appears in advertising for the service. Registered marks can last indefinitely as long as the owner renews it and uses it in interstate commerce.
